Benchmarking of computational methods for jointed structures under harmonic load
Résumé
This talk will deal with computing methods for the simulation of jointed structures in time and frequency domains. The purpose is to compare different methods on a simple example: a SDOF with a two Jenkins-cells Iwan’s model. Firstly, the transient dynamics of the SDOF is investigated using two different formulations of Jenkin’s elements, a formulation by events that allows to switch between sticking and sliding equations without regularization and a differential formulation of the friction force using Dahl’s model to regularize the problem. Secondly, the Harmonic Balance Method (HBM), accelerated with a continuation method, is used in order to study the stationary response of the oscillator. As well as in time-domain, the regularization is discussed by studying two algorithms, the Alternating Frequency-Time which does not necessitate regularization and the Quadratic HBM for which we proposed a regularization of Iwan’s model.
