Résumé

In the late nineteenth century, Robert Louis Stevenson and Charles Malato wrote two travel diaries, the former in the Cévennes and the latter in London. Linguistic and cultural elements are treated, as well as the sociological, political and historical contexts of their journeys, in a vivid and interactive manner. Thanks to their interlinguistic, intercultural and didactic dimensions, these works are genuine migration diaries: Stevenson and Malato share their experience with the readers, analyse the host society and reflect upon their own. We analyse their skills and strategies as travellers and migrants through research into plurilingualism, intercultural studies and the sociology of migrations, and show how they can inspire students who study abroad.
