Velocity effect to the performance of MANEMO

Résumé

MANEMO is a concept of combining MANET and NEMO protocols which is attracting a lot of attention in vehicular communication network and post disaster emergency network. Velocity is one of the factors that should be taken into account for the performance of the network. In this work, protocol TD and NINA are applied to provide routing function in MANEMO system. In order to analyze the effect of the speed on MANEMO, the two scenarios of experiment are conducted including network performance assessment and VoIP call quality assessment. The network parameters such as Throughput, End-to-End delay and Packet Loss Ratio are measured through the field experiment. Based on these measured results, the new procedure called E model is introduced to evaluate the maximum speed of the vehicle in MANEMO which sustain the call quality at the acceptable level. The results show that the performance of MANEMO is decreased when the speed of vehicle is increased in network performance assessment case. In addition, the limitation of speed to meet the user satisfaction based on ITU-T G.107 (E model) is found at 14.11 km/h. In contrast, performance of MANEMO is improved when the speed of vehicle is increased in case of VoIP call quality assessment
