Résumé

We propose a new and efficient characterization of directional textures and we show that this approach can be extended to directional texture classes. A texture class is defined as the association of a basic texture with a set of operators that can modify it. This definition enables the development of powerful tools for image segmentation when the relevant information within regions is made of a "slowly moving directional texture".
