Object tracking in wireless sensor networks using an itinerary-based method
Résumé
In the Internet of Things, smart things communicate with each other, and sensed data are aggregated and queried for satisfying certain requests of end-users. Target tracking is a typical and important application of wireless sensor networks. Considering the energy efficiency and the object tracking accuracy, we propose a novel object tracking method based on a pre-defined itinerary. Energy can be reduced due to effectively selecting collaborative node to activate. The tracking accuracy can be improved because the prediction movement range can be confined into adjacent itineraries according to the current position and direction of the tracking object. The number of activated sensors involved in tracking the target will be decreased to save energy and prolong the lifetime of network. Theoretical analysis shows that our technique is energy-efficient and accurate compared with traditional techniques
