Diffusion of green roof requirements in north-american cities
Do the standardisations carried out in the name of sustainability and centred on a technical-architectural device lead to its widespread adoption? A work of standardisation and promotion orchestrated by a North American interprofessional association has accompanied the growth of green roofs for the last fifteen years. However, beyond the niches of the real estate market, the widespread use of green roofs is limited to a few cities. Faced with a specific environmental problem (rainwater overflow), these cities have introduced regulatory obligations or financial incentives that are based on functional performance and not on a technical-architectural prescription.
