Complements on the effect of TiO2 content on the crystallization and the color of (ZrO2-TiO2)-doped Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2 glasses
Résumé
This paper is an answer to the paper of Pr. G. Calas intitled "Comment on "Effect of TiO 2 content on the crystallization and the color of (ZrO 2 , TiO 2 )-doped Li 2 O–Al 2 O 3–SiO 2 glasses" by M. Chavoutier, D. Caurant, O. Majerus, R. Boulesteix, P. Loiseau, C. Jousseaume, E. Brunet and E. Lecomte [J. Non-Cryst. Solids 384 (2014) 15]" (http://dx.doi.org:10.1016/j.jnoncrysol.2014.07.010) and gives additional results on our previous work. Pr. Georges Calas is acknowledged for his valuable comment on a part of our paper “Effect of TiO2 content on the crystallization and the color of (TiO2, ZrO2)-doped Li2O–Al2O3–SiO2 glasses”, pointing out our inappropriate use of the Kubelka–Munk (KM) formalism to interpret the diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) in the short wavelength region of TiO 2 - and ZrO 2 -bearing lithium aluminosilicate (LAS) glasses and glass-ceramics. Indeed, in this region there is a very strong absorption of the UV and visible light. We apologize for this misunderstanding of the KM limitations.
