An integrated model for workflow constraints requirements
Résumé
Workflows are operational business processes. Workflow Management Systems (WFMS) are based on representing processes as workflows and they are concerned with the control and coordination of these processes. A workflow specification can include the definition of a set of different constraints. These constraints have to be ensured during the instantiation and the execution of the workflow. In this paper, we define different types of constraints and classify them into three categories: static, dynamic and hybrid. Especially, we introduce temporal, historic and execution constraints which have not been considered in previous works around this topic. We show how the definition of a set of constraints can lead to conflicts. We propose implemented algorithms to resolve a certain type of conflicts. The execution of these algorithms should ensure a successful workflow execution without violating the set of defined constraints.
