Introducing Second Order Low Frequency Loads in the Open-Source Boundary Element Method Code Nemoh

Abstract

This paper describes the implementation of the second order low frequency loads in the opensource potential flow solverNemoh. Thequadratic part of the difference frequency quadratic transfer functions (QTF-),depending on first order quantities, is implemented using the near-field approach. Results are compared with reference results from the literature. A good agreement is found for a fixed and a mobile hemisphere, and for a vertical cylinder of two different depths. The potential part is calculated using the Pinkster approximation. Those developments allow computing the low frequency QTF (quadratic transfer function), within the opensource boundary element method solver Nemoh.
