Adaptation des exploitations laitières aux incertitudes climatiques et aux nouvelles réglementations
Résumé
The dairy farms practising mixed crop-livestock productions have undergone considerable specialization, not without consequences on the environment at the regional level. The analysis of the systems practised on 46 dairy farms in the Plaine de Niort (a lowland region around the city of Niort) made it possible to develop a typology and to throw light on the possible changes that are observed or can be contemplated for the forage areas so as to restore an environmental balance. The 4 systems with dairy cattle are differentiated by the possibility of irrigating the maize crop, the grazing by the cows and the proportion of pastures. The 4 systems with dairy goats differ by the stocking rate of the pastures. The fate of each type is described and analysed, with consideration of the new problems (particularly the restricted possibilities of irrigating maize, the selfsufficiency of the farms regarding the forages, in response to the increase in the price of cereals, the new regulations, etc.); the consequences on the presence and the utilization of the pastures are contemplated.
