Towards multifunctional lanthanide-based metal–organic frameworks

We report the synthesis, structure and physicochemical attributes of a new holmium(III)-based metal–organic framework whose 3D
network structure gives rise to porosity; the reported structuretype can be varied using a range of different lanthanide ions to tune
the photophysical properties and produce ligand-sensitised nearinfrared (NIR) and visible light emitters.
