Topological Characteristics of 2D Cellular Structures Generated by Fragmentation

Résumé

Stationary topological properties of 2D cellular structures generated by random fragmentation have been calculated by computer simulations. The probability distributions of the number n of cell sides agree with a recent mean-field model. Two-cell correlations are almost linear in n. The most disordered structure approaches a ''topological gas'' with weak correlations in the arrangement of cells. Variation with disorder of the Aboav-Weaire parameter is discussed for 2D cellular structures.
