High Average Power Tunable Deep UV Generation Using Cascading Second - Order Nonlinear Optical Conversions

Résumé

The nonlinear optical interactions represent a rich source of phenomena, that has scientific and practical importance. With increasing of the order of nonlinearity, the conversion efficiency strongly falls down. That is why, only the lowest order χ(2) or χ(3) processes have a satisfactory efficiency for real practical application. The second and third order nonlinear conversions in nonlinear crystals are now a mature technology for short wavelength generation in the range down to the vacuum UV, which, in particular, is very interesting for variety spectroscopy studies.
