L’influence du savoir culturel sur la perception et la compréhension musicales
Résumé
This chapter studies the role of constraints that acculturation imposes on music listening and comprehension. The first part proposes to use experimental psychology as a basis for the perceptual analysis of Arabic modes. It attempts to sketch out the cognitive constraints and levels of perceptual processing operating during real-time music listening to traditional improvisation. The second part is a music analysis that describes the formal complexity of musical time, the explicit procedures and music playing mechanisms that help the performer organize the structure of his improvisation. This analysis calls into question the accumulated perceptual experience of musical knowledge by studying the relevance of new models of representation specific to the performer in the perceptual analysis of the modern style of Arabic modal improvisation.
