Management of history of the rotation of agricultural parcels through open-source tools
Résumé
This paper presents how an open-source GIS can help to manage a spatiotemporal database dedicated to the long-term monitoring of an agricultural landscape. Based on the space-time composite model (Langran & Chrisman 1998), the system particularly focus on crop rotations and change of shape in agriculture parcels. In order to improve the performance and the flexibility of the system, a migration to an open-source solution was performed. At first, we highlight benefits of this approach as well as its limitations in terms of the ability to integrate new data sources. Then, we propose a new architecture that would facilitate the adaptation of software solutions to the extensions of our data model.
