Investigating inverse methods for determining the dynamic demand

Résumé

The aim of this paper is to investigate an inverse method to reconstruct the dynamic demand in order to improve network modelling. This is a key point for traffic simulation. The traffic flow is modeled with the fisrt order LWR model. A functional to minimize has to be considered and the optimization variables correspond to boundary conditions describing the demand entering the network. Classical optimization techniques (Lagrange multipliers and descent method) are used to solve this problem.
