Applying the Improvement Factor Method to the Degradation Rate

Résumé

This paper applies the improvement-factor method to the degradation rate function to treat imperfect maintenance. The computational load of the proposed model is much smaller than using the hazard rate function. The objective of this paper is to estimate unknown model parameters in order to evidence the applicability of the idea of degradation-rate reduction. Numerical examples show that the proposed model can be used to approximate a model in which the improvement factor is a random variable.
