Verification of the time-reversal measurements protocol for buried object detection in the soil

Résumé

In this paper, we present the results of time-reversal measurement protocol verification for focusing the backscattered energy from a buried point scatterer located in an inhomogeneous medium using low frequency. Firstly, we shortly introduce the soil electromagnetic model (based on geological and hydraulic properties) that allows to simulate the electromagnetic wave propagation in an inhomogeneous medium. Secondly, the time-reversal measurement protocol composed of three stages, i.e. forward probing, time-reversal operation and time-reversal probing, is presented and performed by numerical simulations.
