Geosynthetics impact on the reinforcement of compressible soil by rigid piles

Résumé

Using of geosynthetic inside load transfer granular mattress located above a soft soil reinforced by rigid inclusions decreases stress apply on the soft soil and consequently differential settlements at the mattress surface. Numerical modelling shows that stress inside mattress is the highest above the inclusion. More the mattress is thicker, more load are transmitted towards inclusions by arching effect and less geosynthetic transfer load.
