Quand le patrimoine doit composer avec le tourisme : les réseaux d'eau et d'assainissement

Résumé

Local authorities have recently discovered their heritage of water and sanitation networks, whose value is estimated in 2012 at around 200 billion Euros. Faced with the necessity to increase water bills to fund their renovation, communities are now promoting equipments they ignored yesterday, as one of the places to visit during National Heritage Days. These networks create a funny kind of tourism, a local attendance based on the will of the public services to have their policy legitimized by local inhabitants. However, touristic municipalities must also imagine specific funding to adjust to demand during the tourist season. Public fountains can then regain their original role of access to drinking water for temporary dwellers.
