Convective Precipitation in complex terrain: Results of the COPS campaign

Résumé

The goal of COPS was to determine the physical processes responsible for the production of convective precipitation in complex terrain including heavy precipitation leading to flash flooding. COPS took place in a medium-high mountainous area covering the Black Forest and Vosges mountains in Germany and France as well as the Rhine Valley between the two ranges. The field phase of this experiment was from 1 June to 30 August 2007 with 18 intensive observation periods covering about 30 days in total
