Données préliminaires sur la litière et la chute des feuilles dans quelques formations forestières semi-décidues de Moyenne Côte d'Ivoire

Résumé

Annual litter-fall, specially the fall of the leaf, has been measured on eight experimental plots distributed in the different forests of the Lamto Reserve . The studied forests belong to the group of Celtis spp . and Triplochiton scleroxylon semi-deciduous forests or to some of their edaphic variants. The weight of leaf-fall varies from 5 t/ha/year, in plateau forests, to 7,6 t/ha/year in a forest on a wet soil. Weight of "total litter-fall" is including between 5,1 and 8,1 t/ha/year. The weight of total ground litter has been measured when experimental plots were set up: it varies from 9,3 to 14,8 t/ha according to the plot and the time of sampling. The plots of the riparian forest differ by the phenology of the leaf-fall from those which are situated in more typical semi-deciduous forests. That is due to the specific rhythm of the leaf-fall of each species on the studied plots. So, we distinguish some species with a heavy leaf-fall during the dry season -- trees of the upper storey and the emergents -- and some others with an evergreen comportment such as underwood trees and some of the upper storey trees of the riparian forest. Among the environmental factors which influence the leaf-fall, present observations suggest that, in some cases, a heavy drying of the soil may start an early leaf-fall
