Résumé

A non-standard numerical approach called COOL (COnstraint Oriented Library) is presented. It enables to solve partial differential operators describing the nature without generating non-physical solutions. External constraints such as Δ*u=0 as appearing in Maxwell's or Navier-Stokes equations can be handled by an elimination process, thus reducing the number of variables to the number of the physical problem. As a consequence, there are no non-physical modes. Operators with internal constraints including singularities in the spectrum as in Maxwell's and magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) are well represented. This implies that the mathematically unstable spectrum pollution does not appear. It is shown how this new numerical approximation method will be implemented to run on HPC machines. © 2010 American Institute of Physics.
