Taking into account localized non linearities in random vibration simulation - Application to an automotive equipement

Résumé

Including non linearties in vibration simulation is a necessity to obtain reliable models for automotive suppliers. In this work, a global methodology for the characterization and the modeling of a suspension is described. The study starts from considerations and analyses of the certification and validation tests performed on a front engine cooling module supported by rubber suspensions. The purpose is to determine what are potential environmental effects influencing the behavior of the rubber insulators, and to establish their characterization ranges. The rubber mount suspension are then characterized by experiments. A periodic forced deflection is applied to the rubber suspension for several pre-loads and frequencies. The records of the restoring force and the deflection permit to obtain hysteresis cycles. These cycles are then the basis for the model parameters identification process that has been developed. Based on the principle of restoring force models, the rubbers are modeled using the generalized Dahl model. The rubber models are then implemented in the FEA simulation process of the automotive equipement so that the non linear behavior of the rubber suspensions is taken into account in a linear computation by the modal superposition method.
