The invention relates to a method for manufacturing an alumina-supported silver catalytic composition for selectively reducing nitrogen oxides, characterized in that it comprises the hydrothermal treatment of a uniform mixture of alumina and silver oxide in the form of powder. The hydrothermal treatment is carried out at a temperature above 500 ºC, preferably between 650 ºC and 750 ºC.
