Integrated Multi-trophic Aquaculture (IMTA): A sustainable, pioneering alternative for marine cultures in Galicia.

Résumé

Integrated Multi-trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) is a production strategy that combines culture of different commercial species : fish, crustacean, mollusc or algae. In some countries with a highly developed aquaculture, IMTA generates an added value to marine cultures since its products have access to labelling that certifies to consumers that it has been reared with systems that have a low, zero or even a positive impact on the environment. This book describes some methods of ITMA currently in place in Galicia (North-East of Spain).
