Offset-launch characterization of transmission loss in PF-GIPOF for wireless home networks
Résumé
In this paper an experimental study of transmission losses in perfluorinated graded-index polymer optical fibers (PF-GIPOFs) for different offset-launching conditions is presented. Two different operating wavelengths and fiber core diameter sizes have been tested for two typical short-reach link lengths in such fiber type. A better comprehension of the PF-GIPOF excess loss due to offset launching is a factor of key importance for the designing of future deployments of in-home/building networks based on this fiber technology. Some guidelines and general trends are given for future link designers.
