Résumé

A complementary approach is used to study the reinforcement of soft soil by stiff vertical inclusions within the French National Program ASIRI. To understand the load transfer process through a granular mattress installed above the reinforced soil, two physical modelling techniques have been developed: 1g tests for an axi-symmetrical geometry, and centrifuge modelling for a 3D group of piles. The devices are described, and the influences of the area ratio, the mattress height and nature have been studied for pile-embankment.
