First and second-order PMD impact over 100Gbps polarization-multiplexed multi-band coherent OFDM system under realistic field conditions

Résumé

We experimentally investigate the impact of first and second-order PMD on the performance of a 100 Gbps polarisation-multiplexed multi-band coherent OFDM system. Before entering into the PMD emulator, the signal polarisation is randomly scrambled with a speed of 70°/ms, which is relevant with the dynamic conditions affecting PMD observed in the "field".
