Microwave-Assisted Hydantoins Synthesis on Solid Support

Résumé

In this laboratory classroom, students will be introduced to the three-step synthesis of a valuable heterocycle : an imidazolidine-2,4-dione named hydantoin. Taking advantage of microwave oven apparatus and solid support technology, this synthetic experiment is designed for M.Sc. students working in the field of organic chemistry. Incorporation of microwave and synthesis on solid support are of growing interest, and relevant techniques for M.Sc. student to be exposed to. Colorimetric test on solid support, as well as analytical techniques such as High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Mass Spectrometry (MS) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) will complete the initiation of laboratory techniques.
