Geomorphologic Crisis in Coastal Environments
Résumé
This talk will present the concept of geomorphologic crisis with special reference to coastal environments. It will explore the epistemological evolution of the concept within the sphere of geomorphology and its recent development in the arena of environmental crisis. Recent interest in the impacts of high-energy events (tsunamis, hurricanes...) on coastal landforms and societies will be presented and some hot spots of contemporary research highlighted. Ongoing research programs on sedimentological signatures of modern and past high-energy events affecting Pacific coastlines will be presented.
