Streaming needs for MPEG-V
Résumé
The contribution proposes a binary format for updating the sensor/actuators data. It consists in an update mask that should be standardized for each sensor type. The mask indicates which component of the sensor/actuator data should be updated at each frame. The new values are transmitted into an array of update values. Notes: Current definition of the base types includes the timing information. The alternatives solutions are to use TeM which is a mechanism standardized in MPEG-7 Part 1 for transmitting and updating XML instances. There exists as well a binary equivalent for BiM (MPEG-B Part 1). The streaming feature in MPEG-V should be addressed considering the need of compactness and easiness of building the applications. Provide a comparative list of advantages and disadvantages between the solution based on update mask and TeM.
