The reflectometry, a versatile diagnostic technique to study the Physics of turbulent plasmas

Résumé

n the fusion plasma for energy, mainly electromagnetic waves can be used to measure the plasma parameters and the turbulence characteristics, which induce anomalous transport of energy and particles. The reflectometry diagnostic based on radar principle can be used in many different ways to reach these different goals. At the beginning, it was devoted to the plasma density profile and quickly it was also used to determine the density fluctuations parameters at a given position. Due to a continuous progress in the theoretical understanding and in the hardware it is possible now to access to a very large set of turbulence plasma parameters. The conditions to reach these parameters are described as well as the hardware and technologies for the fastest frequency sweep reflectometer with frequency sweep rate of 17.5 GHz/μs
