Ein neuartiger Zugang zu Polyoxomolybdaten mit komplexen Gegenionen – Synthese und Struktur von [Mn(CH3OH)6][Mo8O16(OCH3)8(C2O4)]

The tetranuclear compound [Mo2(O2C-t-Bu)3]2(µ-C2O4) 1, which is prepared from [Mo2(O2C-t-Bu)3]4 and oxalic acid, was reacted with MnI2(THF)2 to form the polyoxomolybdate complex [Mn(CH3OH)6] [Mo8O16(OCH3)8(C2O4)] 2 in a complex redox reaction. Crystals of the corresponding compound were analyzed by single crystal X-ray diffraction showing a crystal structure which is determined by strong hydrogen bond interactions of the O-H----O type with methanol molecules coordinated to manganese as well as additional solvent molecules in the crystal lattice acting as hydrogen bond donor sites.
