ISAUr : an integrated tool for modeling the noise impact of urban traffic control equipments
Résumé
Urban traffic facilities like roundabouts, limited speed areas, and zigzag are used in urban areas mainly for road traffic flow management and for safety reasons. In many cases, it is considered that such equipments may produce noise abatement, while sometimes it is observed an increase of noise due to modifications of traffic flow characteristics. In order to evaluate the noise impact of such equipments, a numerical tool (ISAUr) was developed. The simulation program is based on the coupling of a simulation tool (Symubruit), that dynamically estimates noise emission, and a sound propagation modeling in free field condition. Symubruit is composed of a traffic flow model (Symuvia) and suitable acoustic emission laws of vehicles. The numerical tool allows producing a dynamic noise mapping around urban facilities for realistic traffic flow conditions, in free flow as well as in congested regime. It can be used by city planners to design urban traffic facilities in order to reduce the noise impact of such equipments.
