Tensegrity systems: the application of linear programmation in search of compatible selfstress states

Résumé

Research of the selfstress states of statically and cinematically undetermined systems has been described in the 80's. But this study did not take into account the case of systems with unilaterally rigid elements like the tensegrity systems. After presenting the problem linked to the presence of cables in these systems, we will then show simple methods which enable to treat problems of a modest size. The last part will demonstrate an exhaustive method which has the advantage of defining all compatible selfstress states from a non trivial adaptation of the simplex method.
