Metallomics or in vivo speciation of trace elements [La metallomique ou la speciation des elements traces in vivo]
Résumé
Recent advances in analytical approaches to the detection, identification and quantification of metal species in life sciences are discussed. New developments in interfaces between separation techniques used in proteomics and metabolomics and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) make the latter a linchpin analytical technique for the ultrasensitive, specific and quantitative detection of metal (or metalloid)-containing biomolecules. The potential of these developments for research on new environmental (bioremediation) and nutrition (fortified food) biotechnologies and in environmental and clinical toxicology is highlighted. © CNRS Photothe?que/CHEZIERE Alexis.
