Modeling of enthalpy of solution and solubility of CO2 in aqueous alkanolamine solutions

Résumé

The enthalpies of solution of CO2 in several aqueous alkanolamine solutions (MEA, DEA, TEA, AMP and MDEA) were in a first step estimated by a simple ideal model. Then the ability of a thermodynamic model developed to correlate the vapor liquid equilibrium of {CO2-H2O-alkanolamine} systems was tested to predict the enthalpies of solution. This model is based on a system of equations for the chemical and phase equilibria. The predicted enthalpies were compared to experimental data obtained in our laboratory. The importance of the different enthalpic contributions associated to chemical reactions and physical equilibria were analysed.
