Scheduling of transhipment operations in a single strip and stack doors crossdock
Résumé
Crossdocking is a logistic technique which seeks to reduce costs related to inventory holding, order picking, transportation as well as the delivery time. Most of the existing studies in the area are interested in the dock assignment problem and the design of the crossdock transportation networks. Little attention has been given to the transhipment operations inside a crossdocking platform. In this article, we study the transhipment scheduling problem in a simple crossdock with a single strip door and a single stack door. We propose a graph based model for the problem. The shortest path in the graph gives the schedule which minimizes the total cost of transshipment operations.
