ELECTRONIC TRANSPORT IN AlPdMn AND AlCuFe QUASICRYSTALS: BREAK-DOWN OF THE SEMICLASSICAL MODEL
Résumé
Since the early 1990's experimental investigations have indicated that the conduction properties of several stable quasicrystals (AlCuFe, AlPdMn ...) are at the opposite of those of good crystals. In particular the conductivity is small and increases with disorder and temperature. There is strong evidence that these non standard properties result from a new type of break-down of the semi-classical Bloch-Boltzmann theory of conduction. Here, we present an overview on experimental and theoretical transport properties of quasicrystals, and we focus on the breakdown of the semi-classical Block-Bolzmann model in these materials.
