Self-assembling of an amphiphilic iron (III) chelator : mimicking iron acquisition in marine bacteria

Résumé

Iron rations: Amphiphilic catechol-based chelators and their iron complexes self-assemble in solution at physiological pH values to form spherical particles (see cryo-TEM image). In terms of iron nutrition properties these abiotic chelators mimic siderophores from marine bacteria.
