What can we learn from the non-linear optical investigation of the liquid | solid interface?

Résumé

The non-linear optical technique of visible-infrared sum (SFG) and difference (DFG) frequency generation is becoming an efficient tool for probing in situ the vibrational properties of the very first adsorbed layer, between centrosymmetric media. We give here a summary of three applications of SFG and DFG in the investigation of liquid solid interfaces.
