Detection and measuring of BTEX traces at the ppb level using metal oxide gas sensor
Résumé
In 2008, the European Union has introduced a Directive (2008/50/EC) to impose measurement obligations and thresholds to not exceed for some pollutants, including BTEX gases (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene). In this work, we show the ability to detect and to quantify very low concentrations of BTEX using a new gas microsensor based on metal oxide thin-film. Our sensors have been able to detect on a wide range of concentrations of BTEX (5-500 ppb) with a very low standard deviation. We also compare the detection performance in the presence of BTEX of our sensor with a commercial PID sensor taken as a reference.
