A combination approach for fault location in MV distribution networks
Abstract
This paper presents an earth fault location method tailored for medium voltage (MV) radial distribution networks. The proposed
approach combines a zero-sequence impedance-based with additional measurements (ZSAM) technique and a modified Takagi
(MT) method from previous works. This novel approach exploits the strengths of both methods and overcomes the challenge of
multiple solutions inherent in the MT method while reducing the size of the solution area of the ZSAM method. By combining
these techniques, the proposed method effectively converges the benefits of ZSAM and MT approaches, providing a small set
of nodes as the solution for fault location.
