Structural phase transition in p-quaterphenyl : a Raman study of the influence of temperature and pressure
Résumé
A Raman scattering study of p-quaterphenyl is reported as function of temperature and pressure. At atmospheric pressure, a line broadening in the vicinity of the transition gives a direct support of the order-disorder mechanism. The phase diagram has been determined. The mechanism of the transition is analysed up to 4 kbar and shows an evolution towards a displacive regime, the transition remaining continuous.
