Global Existence and Finite-Time Blow-Up for a Nonlinear Nonlocal Evolution Equation

Résumé

Abstract We study the Cauchy problem for a nonlinear nonlocal evolution equation arising in the study of oceanic flows in equatorial regions. We present a well-posedness result and show that while some initial data develop into solutions that exist for all times, others lead to blow-up in finite time.
