              <p>This work investigates the use of high-pressure homogenization (HPH) to process whole-grain lupin flour suspensions as a step towards more sustainable plant-based alternatives that minimize fractionation. The study systematically examined the effect of operating conditions, particularly pressure drop (ΔP), on particle disruption and breakage mechanisms, including fragmentation and erosion. Suspensions at 5% w/w were first pre-treated by high-shear homogenization and then processed by HPH at pressures between 10 and 100 MPa. Using theoretical scaling laws, the relationship between maximum particle size and ΔP was analyzed, indicating that disruption results from a combination of physical interactions and hydrodynamic effects. Fragmentation was identified as the primary breakage mechanism, while erosion contributed to a lesser extent.</p>
