Human Body Shadowing Modeling based on Rotatable Screens and Uniform Theory of Diffraction

Résumé

Nowadays, human body effect on electromagnetic waves propagation, known as Human Body Shadowing (HBS), is of prevalent interest, especially for indoor environments, Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs), pedestrian crowds in dense urban environments and millimeter waves (mmWaves). In this paper, HBS propagation models, based on rotatable screens for the human body geometrical model and Uniform Theory of Diffraction (UTD) for the associated electromagnetic theory, are described. These models are compared to measurements based on both Motion Capture (MoCap) and 2.4 GHz radio systems [1], and to UTD elliptic cylinder models [2] because of their human body orientation inclusion.
