              <p>Time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) has become a popular tool in recent years to detect and map lipids in biological, organic, and mixed samples. Identifying lipids from a mass spectrum requires prior knowledge of the type of lipids that may be expected in a given sample but also of their possible fragmentation pattern under an ion beam. In this paper, we present reference spectra of lipid extracts from wild-type Arabidopsis thaliana dry seed lipid extracts, which is a complex mixture of triacylglycerols well-characterized and described in the literature. These spectra and tables of secondary ions will be helpful in the future to better identify lipid fragments and full species in complex mixtures such as naturally occurring biological samples.</p>
