              <p>This paper deals with modeling the dynamic behavior of composite and hybrid metal-composite shafts,including internal damping. This study enhances the DGEN engine shaft’s performance (Akira Enter-prise) by proposing a hybrid metal-composite design to replace the existing metallic shaft, addressinghigh-speed vibration issues. A shell-based finite element model for rotating laminated shaft, incorpo-rating internal damping via Rayleigh coefficients, rotary inertia, and gyroscopic effects, was developedand implemented in ANSYS Workbench using the ACP module. Due to ANSYS limitations in capturingCoriolis effects in multilayered structures, a homogenization approach based on Classical LaminateTheory (CLT) converted multilayer configurations into equivalent single-layer shell elements. The dy-namic response of a Laval-Jeffcott rotor was analyzed over 0–2000 rad/s, comparing fully metallic,single-layer composite [[0C ],[45C ],[90C ]] and multilayer [0C ,90C ,0C ,90C ] ; [Metal,0C ,90C ] shafts.At rest, homogenized results closely matched multilayer predictions, with errors increasing at higher frequencies yet remaining acceptable (&lt; 4%) and good analytical-numerical agreement for damping.Natural frequencies proved sensitive to laminate parameters such as stacking sequence, fiber orientation,internal damping and gyroscopic effects driving significant second-mode splits. The robust homogeni-zed shell model effectively supports dynamic analysis of internally damped laminated rotating shafts,paving the way for optimized rotor designs, with future work targeting experimental tests to measure frequencies and validate analytical findings, alongside damping validation</p>
